Bola.net – The Malaysian national team received an offer to try out its strength against the Brazilian national team and Argentina but they rejected the golden opportunity.
This was stated by the President of the Malaysian Football Federation (FAM), Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin. Datuk Hamidin admitted that officials from the Brazilian Football Association (CBF) had expressed interest in FAM to bring together Brazil and the Malaysian National Team.
However, FAM missed this opportunity. Because the Malaysian coach, Kim Pan-gon, did not give his consent for the match.
Neighboring State Media, The Star, reported that Kim Pan-gon would prefer the Malaysian National Team to face a worthy opponent. Thus the opportunity to earn points to improve the FIFA ranking becomes bigger.

FAM President’s Confession
“Brazil wants to play against us. But, I said not now. Coach Kim Pan-gon doesn’t want it,” said Datuk Hamidin quoted from The Star.
“I told Kim Pan-gon that Brazil wanted to play. But this time he said no. We’ll just wait for the right time,” said Datuk Hamidin.
Datuk Hamidin was asked whether the Malaysian national team was interested in following in the footsteps of the Indonesian national team. The Red and White Squad will indeed have a trial run with the Argentina National Team in the June 2023 FIFA Matchday.

An offer from Argentina
Before facing the Indonesian national team, Argentina, called Datuk Hamidin, was also interested in sparring with Malaysia, but did not get Kim Pan-gon’s blessing.
“The vice president of Argentina invited us to play last year. I have good connections but Kim Pan-gon wants us to stick to reality,” explained Datuk Hamidin.
In the June 2023 FIFA Matchday, Malaysia will first take on the Solomon Islands who are entrenched in the 134th FIFA ranking at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium, Terengganu, on 14 June 2023.

Malaysian agenda
Six days later, Malaysia was supposed to clash with the 157th position country in the world, the Yemen National Team, but it was cancelled.
Yemen prefers to prioritize the U-23 national team which will play in the WAFF U-23 Championship or the West Asian Football Federation Championship in Iraq in June 2023.
After contacting several associations, FAM appointed the country with the 159th position in the world, Timor Leste, as opposed to Faisal Halim et al. at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium on 20 June 2023.
Currently, Malaysia ranks 138th in the FIFA rankings with 1082.13 points or is the fourth best in Southeast Asia (ASEAN) after the Vietnam national team, Thailand national team and the Philippine national team.
