Creation of a demilitarized zone around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant is no longer considered.
This was stated by IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, RBC-Ukraine reports with reference to his speech at a seminar at the American non-governmental Council on Foreign Relations.
“The creation of a demilitarized zone around the nuclear power plant in Zaporozhye will bring additional difficulties, for example, it will be extremely difficult to carry out the verification process – one mile (about 1.6 km) from the demilitarized zone the territory will be extremely militarized. Therefore, we are no longer considering this option,” – Grossi said.
According to him, we are talking about the cessation of hostilities around the nuclear power plant.
