When the war broke out, millions of Ukrainians fled. But few have chosen to travel to Norway.
This summer everything turned upside down. Now Ukrainian refugees embrace Norway.
On Monday, 30,000 refugees arrived from Ukraine.
Since the summer, Norway has become one of the countries in Europe hosting the largest number of Ukrainian refugees. Never before have more asylum seekers arrived in Norway this year.
While Norway welcomed relatively few Ukrainian refugees at the start of the war, they now come more here than in most other European countries. Several records were set this week at the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration.
Recently, Norway surpassed the number of asylum seekers in record years during the migrant crisis in 2015. Although it is still mid-October, there have never been more asylum seekers than in 2022. On Monday, UDI statistics have showed 30,000 Ukrainian refugees.
