Manchester City and Kevin De Bruyne are Premier League champions again. The Citizens are currently playing against Chelsea. City’s performance is in stark contrast to that of the Blues this season. If only Londoners had kept the Red Devil…
Frank Lampard reveals why Chelsea sold Kevin De Bruyne in 2014. Lampard, who incidentally was still active at the Blues when De Bruyne was there, gave insight into the decisions made back then. He answered the question during a pre-match press conference, as quoted by METRO.
“Kevin was fighting more for the number 10 position. When he was with us in his younger years, we were pretty well covered in those attacking areas. Hazard was there, Schurrle was there, Juan Mata was there and what I wonder about remember Kevin is that he was really hungry and wanted to come and play”.
Get more game time
“I personally don’t know the details of what happened at the time between him, the club and the manager, but looking back on it today, I respect that he left to get more playing time. You can see that hunger in his game and he always wanted to prove that he had a lot of talent.”
