Head of the National Food Agency (It’s hot) Arief Prasetyo Adi reveals why the figure of the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini Not every President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) distributes 10 kg of rice social assistance.

Arief explained that food social assistance was not distributed through the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos). The distribution of 10 kg of rice social assistance was carried out by Bapanas.

He said this was in accordance with the provisions of Presidential Decree Number 66 of 2021 concerning the National Food Agency. Arief explained that Article 2 of the Presidential Decree states that the Food Agency has the task of carrying out government duties in the food sector.

“Why is the National Food Agency not the Ministry of Social Affairs? Because Bapanas’s duties, one of which in Presidential Decree 66/2021, is to carry out aid like this (rice social assistance), including food insecurity, vulnerable to food insecurity, malnutrition,” he said on CNBC Indonesia Economic Outlook 2024 at The Ritz Carlton Pacific Place, Jakarta, Thursday (29/2).

He also denied that the social assistance for 22 million beneficiary families (KPM) was political because it had been running since 2023.

“Food assistance is for 22 million KPM and is not related to politicization or anything because assistance since 2023 has been carried out by Bapanas,” he said.

Since the beginning of the year until ahead of the 2024 elections on February 14, Jokowi has been diligent in distributing government social assistance himself, including 10 kg of rice social assistance.

However, in every social assistance distribution, Jokowi is never accompanied by the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini.

Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana explained the reason why Risma did not join Jokowi when distributing social assistance recently.

Ari said that the ministries/institutions that Jokowi directly invited to distribute social assistance were those related to the social assistance program.

“Because it is related to food reserves, yes, there is Bulog and the Food Agency. So it is more about that, including checking the existence of food in each region. So those invited are of course related to that,” said Ari at the Ministry of State Secretariat Office, Central Jakarta, Monday ( 1/29).

He denied the opinion that Jokowi did not invite Risma because he was a PDIP cadre. Ari emphasized that there was no political element in the distribution of social assistance.

“No. There is no (correlation with) party status,” he said.
