Jakarta –
Manchester City great success by winning the treble winners. Nevertheless, Arsene Wenger suggested that City remain active in the transfer market this summer.
City completed the treble by winning the Champions League for the first time last weekend. Pep Guardiola’s troops beat Inter Milan 1-0 in the final round in Istanbul, Sunday (11/6) early morning WIB.
Meanwhile in the Premier League, City continued their dominance by becoming champions. The 2022/2023 Premier League title is the fifth in the last six seasons for The Citizens.
Nevertheless, Wenger believes that City cannot be satisfied with the current squad. According to the former Arsenal manager, City must remain active in the transfer market.
“I have to say, I was also thinking during the celebrations: now what are you guys doing at City? Looking for a new challenge? Motivate yourself for a new challenge?” Wenger said as reported by the Mirror.
“Or stay, take advantage of the plaudits and continue the development of this team? They may be missing some important players. The team is not old, but there are no young players.”
“Apart from (Erling) Haaland, who is 22 years old, everyone is between 24 and 32 years old. So two or three new players need to be replaced. They have to look for the same quality again,” said Wenger.
Several players, such as Ilkay Guendogan and Bernardo Silva, are being rumored to be leaving Manchester City. City are also reportedly interested in Mateo Kovacic (Chelsea).
