At least five military generals Russia who was killed in the aggression ordered by the President Vladimir Putin Of Ukraine.
This number is certainly said to be astonishing for some because the division commanders who died were the division commanders in the aggression.
Russian Lieutenant General Andrei Mordvichev, commander of the 8th Guards, the last general killed in an attack on the airport in Chornobayivka, Wednesday (16/3).
War analyst, retired US military general, David Petraeus, told CNN the deaths of up to five Russian military generals in Ukraine were very unusual in warfare.
Patraeus then tries to answer the question of how many Russian generals were killed in the fighting in Ukraine.
“The bottom line is that their (Russian) command and control has fallen apart,” Petraeus said.
Another retired US officer, Mark Hertling, said the large number of troops involved added to the complexity of coordination on the ground. Organizing operations over a distance of 1,600 kilometers, Hertling said, required solid communication and command.
“I don’t see that the navy is coordinating with the air force or the army,” Hertling said.
“Russia had great difficulties in terms of command and control during this operation at echelon level. Some may be due to Ukrainian maneuvers,” he added.
Hertling assessed that each unit in the division of the Russian troops that attacked Ukraine did not appear to be well connected. Each unit seemed to act separately without any centralized pattern of coordination from the top military commander.
Russian troops are also suspected of having huge communication problems. Soldiers and military commanders still use cell phones and unsafe networks to be tapped.
This condition makes every Russian attack plan still able to be anticipated by Ukraine.
“One of the main principles in warfare is ‘unity of command’. This means that there is one military officer who has full authority to coordinate attacks, direct logistics, provide reserve forces, predict success (and failure) of different operating fronts, then make decisions from there, ‘ said Hertling.
Lieutenant General Andrei Mordvichev is claimed to be the fifth Russian general to be killed in fighting in Ukraine.
Previously, Ukraine claimed to have killed four Russian generals since the invasion began on February 24.
The four generals were Major General Oleg Mityaev, Major General Andre Sukhovetsky, Major General Vitaly Gerasimov, and Major General Andrei Kolesnikov.
