Why Arab Monarchies Are Proving to be More Stable and Prosperous Than Republics: An Emirati Academic’s Analysis

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Emirati academic, Abdul Khaliq Abdullah, compared what the monarchies in the Arab countries have proven to the republican regimes, in a tweet that he attached with a photo of the wedding of Jordan’s Crown Prince, Prince Hussein bin Abdullah, and Princess Rajwa Al-Hussein.

Abdul Khaliq Abdullah said in his tweet: “The Arab monarchies have proven that they are in a better condition than the Arab republican regimes. They are stable and prosperous and have achieved a decent and secure life for their people, unlike the exhausted and flabby Arab republics that have failed to achieve the minimum level of a safe and decent life for their people and are heading from bad to worse.”

It is noteworthy that there are about 43 countries around the world that follow a monarchical system of government, but these systems differ among themselves in terms of powers, influence and restrictions, and there are two types of monarchies. In each of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the Sultanate of Oman, the Vatican and Switzerland, in addition to Brunei.

As for the other type, it is the constitutional monarchy, where the powers of kings are administered through the constitution, which clarifies their duties and rights in accordance with what is in force in the country.
