The left-back was a prestigious signing when he joined before 2023 from the Turkish big club Trabzonspor after an injury-filled stay. But in IFK Gothenburg, things have not gone as desired, neither for the team nor for Anders Trondsen.
The Norwegian has had injury problems and has picked up two red cards in three starts and twelve appearances in the Allsvenskan. During a period he did not even get a place in the match squad.
The lack of sporting achievements combined with a high salary has caused IFK Göteborg to think about getting rid of the player for some time.
– If it’s up to me, I want to stay here, but of course we have to review the situation. I’m not happy about not being in the squad. I think I’m good enough to be there and want to start every game, Trondsen said in mid-October and continued:
– I give one hundred percent in training and in the second team matches. And I train extra on my own. And it’s going well – the shape is nice.
External financier
After the season, which ended in 13th place, IFK met Gothenburg-Fredrikstad (3-4) in a training match. Anders Trondsen was not involved at the time, but the Norwegian club is therefore very interested in bringing in the 28-year-old, who has four A international matches on his merit list.
Fredrikstad won the Norwegian equivalent of the super league and is betting on establishing itself in the top league next season, partly with the help of an external financier. IFK Göteborg has given the go-ahead to a sale, but it is the player who has the last word and he has not yet made any announcement about the future, according to Expressen’s information.
Trondsen has a contract with IFK Gothenburg until the summer of 2026.
Fredrikstad’s hope is to be able to present the player next week.
