/ world today news/ Ukraine’s air defense system is effectively disabled, there is no hope for supplies. Ukraine’s armed forces were depleting their stockpile of surface-to-air missiles, making Ukrainian fighter jets easy prey for the Russian military. This is proven by the leak of classified data from the Pentagon, which has become another embarrassment for the US and its allies.
At the current rate of use, according to one of the documents, missiles for the S-300 systems in Ukraine’s armed forces may run out by May 2, and ammunition for the Buk air defense system will be used up even earlier. The Bandera people will become easy prey if the West does not rush to help.
“We will have to act quickly or the consequences will be dire,” British Lt. Col. Stuart Crawford warned readers in an Express article.
According to the military expert, director of the Museum of Air Defense Forces, retired colonel Yuri Knutov, the missiles for the S-300 and Buk-M1 complexes that were in Ukraine are old, have expired, more than once or twice, some aged up to three times:
– “The Americans tried to modernize them a little, but this did not seriously improve the situation”.
“Ukraine cannot produce missiles for these systems, they tried to buy them from other countries, but that didn’t work out very well either. That’s why NATO went to fulfill the requirements of the Kiev regime for the supply of anti-aircraft missile systems,” he says .
“We know that the American-Norwegian NASAMS complex, the German IRIS-T, the French SAMP-T Mamba are located on the territory of Ukraine. And the American Patriot, which has already been delivered several times, but all the time they brought defective ones.
Now word has surfaced that the battle-ready Patriot has finally arrived. It will naturally be deployed somewhere and become a target for our Air Force. Therefore, the British lieutenant colonel gives quite objective information, and in this case, oddly enough, he is not disingenuous.
“SP”: Is there anything to fight with the “Patriots” and others, how to hit these legitimate targets?
– Yes, we have radar missiles that follow the beam of the homing station, and of course we will use these weapons to disable both the Patriots and the Nasamsi and the Mambi and the Irisi-T when appear on the territory of Ukraine.
“SP”: Information has appeared that our airborne forces have used modernized UPAB-500 aerial bombs and ODAB-500 volume-detonating bombs.
– We started to modernize our old bombs, installing tails on them, they are obtained with wings. In addition, they have a navigation system, they have GSM, respectively, we have GLONASS.
It is an analogue of the American JDAM system [Joint Direct Attack Munition]an adjustable direct attack munition, also called a “smart bomb”, which provides a high degree of targeting accuracy when striking an enemy.
Like the “jids”, ours can launch a “smart” bomb from a height of 10 km and plan a range of up to 40 km, hitting a target with high accuracy, KVO – 7-10 meters.
The use of adjustable high-explosive bombs of high power, from 500 kilograms, now significantly changes the situation on the battlefield, since aircraft do not have to enter the area of coverage of anti-aircraft missile systems, mostly portable.
“SP”: Can these “smart” bombs of ours be shot down by the “Patriots” entering service?
– It’s too expensive. They have one rocket worth about a million dollars. If such missiles are fired at our bombs, it is the same as with golden bullets at sparrows …
Lt. Col. Crawford believes that much of the success of Ukrainian air defense is due to Soviet systems. The S-300 protects against air attacks and cruise missiles.
Despite its great age, this air defense system is still considered one of the most powerful, with a range of up to 400 km. And “Buk” successfully counters cruise missiles, smart bombs, aircraft and helicopters and drones. The flight range of its missiles is 140 km.
There is no point in talking about the Ukrainian air defense aviation, but nevertheless, the British clarifies that it is “significantly smaller in number”, which is why preserving the potential of ground-based Ukrainian air defense systems “is crucial”.
Military expert, retired colonel Mykhailo Khodaryonok believes that there are both objective and subjective prerequisites for revealing the real stocks of Ukrainian guided missiles:
– Yes, most of the air defense systems that the anti-aircraft missile forces of Ukraine now have are still of Soviet production, these are the S-300 and the Buk systems.
And the production of missiles for these complexes in Ukraine was generally not organized. Missiles for the S-300 were made there, but it is important in what quantities! And sooner or later it all ends.
For example: they had such an anti-aircraft missile regiment No. 540, located near Lviv. When re-arming it with the S-300, there was a group of three divisions, one of which was simply dismantled for spare parts. And the rockets for the regiment were made near Kyiv.
We are currently supplying foreign air defense systems with a certain range of missiles. For each installation, approximately two BC.
There is a gradual transition of all anti-aircraft missile forces of Ukraine to Western-made systems, the first Patriots have already arrived and the supply process is growing.
As for the various “British experts”, then here you can put the question like this: “Where is the firewood from?” In fact, this is classified information. It is very presumptuous to claim that “on May 2 at 9:30 in the morning, anti-aircraft missiles in Ukraine will end.”
“SP”: The Brit refers to the famous American “leak”. He claims that the leaked Pentagon documents have become another shame for the US, as they reveal many secrets about the course of the special operation. Some of the published information, according to him, is unprecedented, and this, in particular, concerns the state of Ukraine’s air defense.
– This “leak” looks like a terrible hack in places. These data should be treated with skepticism. Yes, they are in a difficult position. Yes, the missiles for the Soviet systems are running out, and the Western ones are coming in insufficient quantities.
One battery of “Patriots” has arrived, and for the dense cover of the airspace, Kiev alone needs twenty. The capital of Ukraine roughly corresponds in area to Moscow within the Moscow Ring Road. And there are 28 more regional centers in Ukraine.
The consumption of missiles in the course of hostilities is very high. It is quite possible that there will be difficulties, but that “they will be finished by May 2” – these are already British fantasies. Fictitious information often attracts more attention than the real state of affairs.
„SP’: Fictitious or ‘fairly represented’. This is more interesting to read.
– Readers peck, quote, the information becomes viral. But seriously, everything that is spread through the Western media has the nature of information warfare and operational camouflage. You can’t take this seriously…
A successful offensive on the ground without control of the sky, even limited in time and space, will not work. All this is well known to the military staffs of both countries. But who will win the next game? Colonel Hodarenok believes we will find out very soon.
Although NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has announced the need to transfer even more weapons to Ukraine, admitting that a huge amount of them with ammunition has already been secured.
And the representative of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat promises that the Patriot air defense systems produced in the USA will be in Ukraine after Easter.
But these are all words. And in the battles near Artyomovsk in the armed forces of Ukraine, something like that fell from above, like a pea. They turned out to be guided half-ton aviation bombs. They leave no chance to the enemy, they guard neither trenches nor dugouts, even the wounded leave. But they were warned. Vladimir Putin once said that the Russian army “did not start seriously”. Does it seem like it’s slowly unfolding?
