Whoosh Fast Train Passengers Reach 352 Thousand, 76% for Holiday-Business

PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China conducted a survey of passengers on the Jakarta-Bandung fast train or Whoosh. As a result, 76% of passengers use fast trains for leisure and business.

PT KCIC President Director Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi went into further detail. As many as 53% of respondents use the whoosh fast train for vacations, 23% for business matters, while the rest are for educational, commuting and other activities.

In this way, the presence of the Whoosh train can support economic development through the high interest of people who go on holiday and use it for work.

Furthermore, 48% of respondents previously used private vehicles, 23% used buses or travel vehicles, and the rest used conventional trains.

“This shows that there is starting to be a shift in the use of private transportation to public transportation through the presence of comfortable and reliable fast trains. From this data it can be seen that Whoosh is starting to make a contribution to efforts to reduce air pollution and traffic jams on the highway,” said Dwiyana in a written statement , Friday (17/11/2023).

He also said that up to November 14 2023, as many as 352 thousand people had been transported by the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train. These figures show that the Whoosh train has become an important choice of transportation mode for the mobility of the people of Jakarta and Bandung.

Seeing the enthusiasm of the people who live there, the number of daily trips continues to increase. From initially 14, 18, 22, 25, 28, 32, to now reaching 36 trips per day.

Dwiyana explained that KCIC’s presence at this event was a great opportunity to show that Indonesia is now on par with other countries that have previously operated high-speed trains. The Whoosh Fast Train is starting to become a new culture in Indonesia for mobility between Jakarta and Bandung.

“The fast train is here in Indonesia to improve the economy and make it easier for people to transport. The speed, comfort and safety offered are the advantages offered by the presence of the first fast train in Southeast Asia.” he concluded.
