Jakarta –
PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk is said to have received very high rental rates from lessors or aircraft leasing companies. Quoted from the Instagram post of former Garuda Indonesia commissioner Peter F Gontha, it was stated that he made it difficult to disburse capital participation money (PMN) to Garuda.
According to Peter, he was forced to agree to the withdrawal of Rp 1 trillion from the Rp 7 trillion promised. Until finally he signed the agreement.
“Since February 2020 I have said that the only way is to negotiate with foreign lessors who arbitrarily gave credit to Garuda during 2012-2016, which I am also against,” he was quoted from his personal Instagram account, Saturday (10/30/2021).
Peter reveals that the board of directors is not willing to listen to his input. Since then Peter has admitted to being hostile.
He also mentioned that for Boeing 777 the average rental price in the market is US$ 750 thousand per month. However, from the first day, Garuda paid double, which was around US$ 1.4 million.
“Where did the money go when it was signed? Just want to know,” he explained.
Furthermore, Peter also uploaded CRJ planes which were judged to be the wrong purchase and reached 17 units. “Who told them to buy? Who is the broker? Now they are unemployed and are being turned over. The loss is millions,” he explained.
Economist Didik J Rachbini also commented on this by sharing a screenshot of Peter’s post on Instagram to Twitter.
“Some time ago we had a telephone discussion with the chief, excellency ambassador @PeterGontha and now I’m posting to let the bandits out,” he tweeted.
