Who will be the next Bond? “Not a woman anyway” | Movie

FilmMuch has been written and speculated about it, but it is still unclear who the next James Bond will be. Although the producer of the films, Barbara Broccoli (61), has lifted a corner of the veil: “I stand by my belief, I don’t think a woman should play James Bond.”

Barbara Broccoli and her half-brother Michael G. Wilson run the James Bond franchise. That means she’s now getting a lot of questions about the future of the movies. Daniel Craig gave his last performance as 007 in ‘No Time to Die’. It is not yet known who should succeed him and the real talks about this will not start until next year. Broccoli herself ignores all speculation on social media, but does admit that she wants Bond to be played by a British man again.

“I think it will be a man because I don’t think a woman should play James Bond,” Broccoli said in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “I believe in making characters for women and not letting them play male roles. I don’t think there are enough big roles for women, and it’s very important to me that we make films for women about women. The new Bond must be British. But as a male Brit, he can be of any ethnicity or race.”

Daniel Craig won’t be returning as Bond, but Broccoli says the door is open for ‘No Time to Die’ director Cary Fukunaga to return. ‘No Time to Die’ has received widespread critical acclaim and has grossed $765 million worldwide, making it the highest-earning film of the pandemic era: “We love Cary. He has done an exceptional job,” says Broccoli. “I think he did this because he wanted a challenge, and he certainly did it. But I don’t know if he would do another one. We would certainly be happy to work with him again.”
