Kochi – Despite the release of the second list of candidates, the BJP has not announced candidates for the remaining four seats in Kerala, including Ernakulam. These constituencies were also omitted in the second phase list during the campaign of not announcing candidates in Ernakulam, Kollam, Alathur and Wayanad seats as a part of accommodating those who defected from other parties. But in Ernakulam constituency alone, there are four BJP leaders in the party’s potential list.

Plans are active to bring one of the Christian leaders from the Kerala Congress sub-sections to the party and make him a candidate. If this is not possible, one of the prominent BJP leaders will be the candidate for Ernakulam. Prominent among these is film director Major Ravi, who was recently appointed as the state vice-president of the BJP.
C. Raghunath, a senior Congress leader from Kannur and Major Ravi, who contested against Dharmadam Pinarayi Vijayan, joined the party in the presence of BJP national president J.P. Nadda last December. Surendran nominated Major Ravi as the state vice president and Raghunath as the BJP National Council member.
Even if the chances of winning are low, it is estimated that Major Ravi’s election will give more visibility to the extreme nationalism issues put forward by the BJP. At the same time, with another film star Suresh Gopi contesting in Thrissur, Ernakulam is also confused about fielding someone from the film industry.
