The Korean Medical Association announced on the 15th that a total of six candidates were registered for the 41st presidential election.
According to the expiration of the term of office of the president of the National Medical Association, the Central Election Management Committee of the Medical Association started the election of the 41st president, and the candidate registration was closed at 4 pm that day.
Chairman Choi was elected as the 40th Chairman of the Medical Association in 2018 and has been serving as the chairman since May 1 of that year. The three-year term ends at the end of April this year.

With the introduction of the runoff voting system in this election, the first round of vote by mail is held on March 2-19, and the first electronic ballot is held on March 17-19. If a candidate with a majority of the votes in the first round of voting comes out, the winners will be decided on March 19, but if not, the two most voted voters will vote for the finals. When the final vote is made, the president-elect of the Medical Association will be released on the evening of March 26th.
