Influenza vaccine: who should apply it
- The vaccine in the first instance is aimed at health personnel, whatever the role they perform.
- Also pregnant people, regardless of the time of pregnancy.
- Postpartum people
- General population over 65 years of age.
- Boys and girls from six months to 24 months.
- People from 2 to 64 years old with risk factors.
However, from the Ministry of Health they specified that it can be applied to anyone to prevent the flu.
This is not a minor recommendation, especially considering that this year the outbreak of Influenza A was brought forward and there was concern among the authorities about contagion.
In fact, the authorities decided to advance the free vaccination campaign due to the increase in flu cases. This year, the classification of the virus is H3N2.
For the Government, the rise in infections occurred in an “unusual period of the year”.
The objective of the flu vaccination campaign is to reduce complications and hospitalizations, as well as deaths, caused by the infection.
