Who was Jaquelin Taylor Robertson, the New York architect

His attachment to the “Big Apple” was due to the fact that in his early years as an architect he was part of the Office of Planning and Development of the City Hall, where he carried out projects that included the design of zoning provisions that allowed buildings with use of mixed floors and new theaters on Broadway.

Of the great works that he designed outside of Manhattan, it was the city of Celebration in Florida, a community developed by Disney and that is close to its theme parks, WaterColor, another community on the coast of the same state, and established suburbs in Ohio.

He also designed homes for big-name clients. Marshall Rose’s planned home in the Hamptons won the 1991 National Design Award from the American Institute of Architects (AIA). The same year, he won an award from the Institute of Urban Design for the Battery Park City in Manhattan.

He retired in 2014 leaving a great influence on his colleagues and other younger architects who admired his way of planning cities. He passed away at his home in the Hamptons in New York.
