The World Health Organization (WHO) warns of the increasing corona fatigue in the population in Europe. She calls on governments in Europe to keep a finger on the pulse.
“Since the outbreak of the virus in Europe eight months ago, citizens have made great sacrifices to contain the spread of COVID-19. This has exhausted us all no matter where we live or what we do. Under these circumstances it is easy and natural to feel apathy, demotivation and fatigue », reports the Belgian Hans Kluge, the regional director of WHO.
“Need a courageous approach”
Kluge emphasizes that fatigue is on the rise across Europe and in some cases exceeds 60%. He does believe it is possible to reinvigorate efforts to address the COVID-19 challenges we face. To this end, the WHO is urging governments to keep a finger on the pulse, to work with the communities and to provide a creative new approach to the fight against the pandemic. She has also drawn up a framework for this. “A courageous approach, with empathy at the heart, will get us through this crisis,” it said.
