WHO: – Wake up!

In the last week, 4.4 million corona cases have been registered worldwide.

For the fourth week in a row, the number of deaths is increasing in several countries, while the number of infections is increasing for the seventh week in a row worldwide.

This worries the WHO, which is now asking people to “wake up”.

– This is not a situation we want to be in 16 months into a pandemic, when we have proven corona measures. It is now time for everyone to wake up to see what we need to do, says Maria Van Kerkhove in WHO according to CNN.

Infection is increasing in several countries

In particular, the spread of infection in South Asia is increasing. On Monday, India surpassed Brazil as the country with the second highest number of cases globally, after registering 168,000 new infections in one day.

However, India has far more inhabitants than Brazil – and calculated per million inhabitants, the infection situation is still far gloomier in Brazil.

The country has registered over 63,000 corona infected per million inhabitants, compared to 9755 infected per million in India.

The Czech Republic with just under 11 million inhabitants has registered 147,000 infected per million inhabitants, and the United States with 332 million inhabitants has registered 96,000, according to Worldometer’s survey.
