WHO: Vaccine will not help defeat the second wave of coronavirus

The vaccine will not help fight the second wave of coronavirus. This was stated by the director of the WHO emergency program in the field of health Michael Ryan, reports Today.

“The second wave of coronavirus is in full swing, and we will not be able to defeat it with the help of vaccinations,” said the WHO representative.

He predicted that in about four to six months there would be significant vaccination rates in many regions. Even if a number of companies urgently release their vaccines in December, it still isn’t enough to tackle the pandemic, Ryan added. And he warned that with the advent of the vaccine, the coronavirus will not go anywhere. According to him, it will take years to provide stable immunity in a large percentage of people on the planet.

Recall that the Pfizer company announced the completion of the third phase of trials, which showed that the developed vaccine against coronavirus is 95% effective. The drug from another American company, Moderna, showed an efficiency of 94.5%.
