WHO Researchers Predict Needle-Free COVID-19 Vaccine Available in Late 2021

Until now, there are more than 80 types of candidates the COVID-19 vaccine in the world that is in the clinical trial stage. WHO researchers predict that by the end of 2021 there will be another six to eight vaccine candidates ready to be analyzed for emergency use.

Chief researcher WHO, Soumya Swaminathan, said that some of the vaccine candidates did not use syringes. Vaccines can be given orally or via patch which may be suitable for certain groups, for example pregnant women.

“We are very excited about the existing vaccines … but this can still be developed,” said Soumya as quoted from Bloomberg News, Thursday (18/3/2021).

“I think in early 2022 we will see a variety of cutting-edge vaccines,” he continued.

Various manufacturers Corona vaccine those already licensed are also reported to be undertaking additional development. It is planned that the vaccine that is widely used in the world will be updated so that it can be more effective against the COVID-19 variant.
