Who produces the battery for electric cars that charges in 10 minutes

StoreDot, an Israeli company specializing in the development of electric batteries for fast-charging cars, has introduced a battery that can be fully charged in just 10 minutes.

After a development process that lasted 3 years, StoreDot presented a prototype electric battery, which is said to solve the safety and performance issues characteristic of this type of cell.

The prototype made by StoreDot uses the format 4680 – 46 millimeters wide, 80 millimeters long – a format preferred by manufacturers of electric cars, such as Tesla, writes News.ro.

Now, StoreDot is finalizing the mass production process, along with its chosen partner, the Chinese from Eve Energy. Mass production of the battery is expected to begin in 2024.

In parallel, the Israeli company is already negotiating with several car manufacturers who have shown interest in these batteries, which they hope will make the transition from internal combustion engines quickly.

The same Israeli company is working on XED (extreme energy density) technology, which should lead to the development of batteries with a longer life than at present. This technology will be ready to market in 2028.

StoreDot has so far received $ 130 million in investments, including Daimler AG, BP Ventures and Samsung Ventures.

“Achieving the goal of fast charging a cylindrical cell in just 10 minutes has been on StoreDot’s technology roadmap since day one,” said StoreDot CEO Dr. Doron Myersdorf. “It is a significant step forward that we can offer electric vehicle manufacturers the choice of cell formats, using our XFC technology that will overcome the current barriers of an EV (electric vehicle no.): Autonomy and range anxiety.”

The term “range anxiety” refers to the fear that a battery will run out in the middle of the journey and that the driver will be stuck before reaching a charging station.
