Victoria Kjær Theilvig became the first representative from Denmark to win the Miss Universe crown, after beating more than 120 contestants in the competition held in Mexico City.
The triumph of the 20-year-old Danish businesswoman, dancer and beauty queen marks a historic milestone for the Nordic country in the most prestigious beauty pageant in the world.
Born in 2004 in Søborg, Gribskov, in the Capital Region of Denmark, Theilvig grew up in the suburbs of Copenhagen before moving to the urban centre.
She graduated from Lyngby Handelsgymnasium in Kongens Lyngby with a degree in business and marketing, training that propelled her towards entrepreneurship in the jewelery industry, specializing in the sale of diamonds.
Her career in beauty pageants began in 2021, when she participated in Miss Danmark, reaching third place among 32 contestants.
In 2022, she was designated Miss Grand Denmark, representing her country at Miss Grand International in Indonesia, where she managed to place among the 20 finalists.
Her coronation as Miss Universe Denmark 2024 took place in September at Copenhagen’s iconic Cirkusbygningen, preparing her for the global competition she would ultimately win this Saturday night.
In addition to her career in the world of pageants, Victoria Kjær Theilvig is a professional dancer and dance teacher, disciplines that have contributed significantly to her personal and professional development.
“Dance has always been my escape, my way of expressing myself and connecting with others,” she declared in an interview after her victory in Miss Universe.
Furthermore, during the final question and answer round of the contest, he demonstrated his commitment to social change.

The Miss Universe 2024 gala
The 73rd edition of the Miss Universe pageant took place on November 16 at the CDMX Arena in Mexico City, a venue with capacity for 20,000 spectators, marking the third time that the Aztec country has hosted this international event.
The ceremony began with a spectacular performance that included 131 mariachis and the participation of Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas, performing “Mexicana,” a song created especially for the contest by Emilio Estefan.
The gala was hosted by Mario López, Olivia Culpo (Miss Universe 2012), Zuri Hall and Catriona Gray (Miss Universe 2018).
This year, the contest saw historic participation from new countries such as Belarus, Eritrea, Guinea, Macau, Maldives, Moldova and Uzbekistan, although the final number of participants was reduced from 130 to 125 due to withdrawals and disqualifications.
In the final of Miss Universe 2024, Victoria Kjær Theilvig beat Miss Nigeria (Chidimma Adetshina), who took second place, while Miss Mexico (Fernanda Beltrán) placed third.
