Known for being one of the first singers to find international success on TikTok, Amala Dlamini, has been talked about around the world thanks to her title. Say So, whose clip counts more than 100 million views on YouTube.
Doja Cat did not grow up in a family of singers and decided to bet on dancing when she was a child. She lived in New York State, then in California. Arriving on the west coast, she settles with her mother in a Hindu ashram created by a jazz musician, where she will discover her passion for music.
The singer also says that she and her brother were harassed in their youth, as they were the “only mixed-race children in the neighborhood”.
Doja Cat got noticed too for his failings on social networks. She apologized several times after holding racist homophobic comments.
An end of career evoked, then denied, then re-evoked
But she recently made headlines after repeatedly announcing that she was ending his career.
It all started with the cancellation of the Asunciónico festival, in Paraguay, because of the weather deemed too dangerous to organize the event. Singer Miley Cyrus, who was to participate, also said on her social networks that her private jet had been hit by lightning which prevented him from going to the festival. Doja Cat, who usually posts a lot on her Twitter account, did not mention it. On the other hand, she showed her joy at participating in a concert in Brazil. This enthusiasm caused a wave of incomprehension from his fans in Paraguay.
A flurry of tweets followed, in which Doja Cat expressed her frustration: “I fucking quit. I can’t wait to disappear and I don’t need you to believe in me anymore. Everything is dead for me, the music is dead, and I’m a fucking fool for thinking I was made for this. It’s a fucking nightmare.”
Then she changed her mind: “I can travel, I can eat good food, I can meet new people, I can smile, I can have memories that I dreamed of, i can laugh, i can support my family and friends, i can learn about the world, and i can give to everyone thanks to you. I owe people a lot.”
Doja Cat recently announced the end of her career again, responding to a tweet from Mix 105.1, an American radio station, which headlined “Okay, maybe Doja Cat is not retiring”, to which the singer responded : “Yes fuck I take it”. What will be the next turnaround?
