Trooping the Colour, or the official birthday parade of Elizabeth (95), will be a minor event this year. Only two months after the death of Prince Philip, the Queen is not exactly in a party mood. So that she doesn’t feel completely alone, her cousin Edward Windsor will take Philip’s place at this year’s ceremony. That is not entirely unexpected, given that the man also assisted her when Philip had to recover from major surgery in 2013. “The two have a very good relationship,” sources inside the palace confirm. “Up until now, Edward has often stayed behind the scenes, but we may well see more of him now that Philip has passed away. Because it’s not like the Queen won’t give up. She doesn’t want to sit at home wasting away with her grief. She wants to work as much as possible, although it would be nicer if she didn’t have to do all those things alone.”
