The regulation that describes this figure stems from the need to outline the profiles of different health professionals in the 1990s. Today these professionals are gathered under a single order: FNO TRSM PSTRP (National Federation of Orders of Health Technicians of medical radiology, of the technical health professions, of rehabilitation and prevention).
With Ministerial Decree no. 667 of 14 September 1994, “Regulation concerning the identification of the figure and relative professional profile of the audiometrist technician”. Finally, the Ministry of Health begins to outline the profiles of all professionals operating in the health sector.
Article 1.
Article 1 paragraph 1 of the aforementioned decree identifies the figure of the audiometric technician with the following profile: the audiometrist technician is the health worker who, in possession of the qualifying university diploma and registration in the professional register, carries out his activities in the prevention, evaluation and rehabilitation of pathologies of the auditory and vestibular system, in compliance with the doctor’s powers and diagnostic-therapeutic skills.
Article 1 paragraph 2 of the aforementioned decree is: “The audiometrist’s activity is aimed atexecution of all non-invasive, psycho-acoustic and electrophysiological tests to evaluate and measure the auditory and vestibular system and to rehabilitate the handicap consequent to pathology of the auditory and vestibular apparatus “.
In article 1 paragraph 3 we find all the fields of interest; in fact: “The audiometrist technician:
- operates, on the doctor’s prescription, through professional acts that imply full responsibility and consequent autonomy;
- collaborates with other professionals in the prevention and rehabilitation programs of deafness using instrumental and prosthetic techniques and methodologies;
Article 1 paragraph 4 states that “The audiometrist technician carries out his professional activity in public or private health facilities, in an employee or freelance regime”.
Articles 2 and 3.
Article 2 reads as follows: “The university diploma of audiometrist technician, obtained pursuant to art. 6, paragraph 3, of the legislative decree 30 December 1992, n. 502, and subsequent amendments, enables the exercise of the profession “.
Article 3 says that: “By decree of the Minister of Health in concert with the Minister of University and Scientific and Technological Research, diplomas and certificates obtained under the previous system are identified, which are equivalent to the university degree of referred to in art. 2 for the purpose of exercising the relative professional activity and access to public offices “.
