Follow the last hour of Eurovision 2024 live, with all the controversy over the expulsion of the Netherlands and the protests against Israel. We tell you all the news about Nebulossa, the duo that represents Spain in Sweden.
France is part of the ‘Big Five’ along with Spain, Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom, so it is directly qualified for the final without having to participate in the semifinals. Despite being part of that select group, France’s last two participations have not been very successful. This year they hope to reverse the situation, and expectations are very high.
Who is Slimane, France’s representative at Eurovision 2024?
Slimane Nebchi, better known as Slimane, was born in Chelles, France, in 1989. He is a singer, songwriter and actor who entered the world of music very early. At the age of 13 he joined a choir, and shortly after he began to participate in television contests. In 2016 he definitely rose to fame after his success in ‘The Voice: La plus belle voix’. From there, his success has not stopped growing.
Also in 2016 he began publishing his first works as an independent artist. With her first album, ‘À bout de rêves’, she consolidated her talent. Three albums and several acting jobs later, Slimane was chosen as the French representative in the 68th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. His song ‘Mon Amour’ is one of his favorites.
What ‘Mon Amour’, Slimane’s song at Eurovision 2024, means
‘Mon Amour’ is a ballad that, as its name suggests, talks about love. It is a very emotional song in which Slimane tells how his relationship is at a low point but that there is still a lot of affection. The artist sings a kind of letter in which he talks about feelings, human emotions and hope in love.
Despite not being as lively a song as those of other participants, ‘Mon Amour’ is held in very high esteem by Eurofans, who consider it a serious contender for victory.

Original lyrics
My love
Tell me what you’re thinking
If this all makes sense
I’m sorry if I’m disturbing you
My love
Do you remember us?
From the first date?
It was beautiful, it was crazy
I love you
I don’t know why
I replay the scene
But it’s always the same ending that starts again
You don’t hear
My sorrow
What do we do with it?
Do you love me or not?
My love
I will do everything I can
An ocean in fire
The impossible if you want it
Oh my love
Come back to Paris!
Do it for us I beg you
I promise I understand
I love you
I don’t know why
I replay the scene
But it’s always the same ending that starts again
You don’t hear
My sorrow
What do we do with it?
Do you love me
Or not?
Tell me the place, I’ll wait for you
And if you don’t come, I’ll wait for you
It’s stupid I know, I will do it
Filled with hope I will wait for you
I love you
I don’t know why
I replay the scene
But it’s always the same ending that starts again
You don’t hear
My sorrow
What do we do with it?
Do you love me
Do you love me
Do you love me
Do you love me
Or not?

How many times has France won the Eurovision Song Contest?
France is one of the few countries to have won the Eurovision Song Contest five times. Of course, we have to go back to the last century to remember their victories. The first of them came in the third edition of the contest, in 1958, when André Claveau performed ‘Dors, mon amour’. She won again in 1960 and 1962 with the performances of Jacqueline Boyer and Isabelle Aubret respectively.
A few years later, in 1969, Frida Boccara’s ‘Un jour, un enfant’ by Frida Boccara was the winner of the contest. Her last victory was in 1977, when Marie Myriam sang ‘L’oiseau et l’enfant’. In recent years, her most notable performance is the second place that Barbara Pravi obtained with ‘Voilà’ in 2021.
