Commercial International Bank announced today, Friday, the appointment of Sherif Sami, as non-executive president of the bank, to succeed Hisham Ezz Al-Arab.
Sherif Sami is a non-executive board member of the International Commercial Bank. Sami has extensive experience in the fields of markets, financial services, investment and governance.
Sami is a non-executive head consultant for a real estate asset management company.
Sami is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Investment Bank and the Universal Health Insurance Authority, in addition to a number of companies working in the field of education and direct investment.
He was a member of the Social Insurance Funds Investment Committee, and a member of the International Advisory Committee of the Securities and Commodities Authority in the United Arab Emirates.
Sami also took over the presidency of the General Authority for Supervision for a period of four years that ended in 2017, which is the body competent to oversee and develop the money market, insurance, financial leasing, factoring, real estate financing, private insurance funds and microfinance.
He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Egypt and the position of Chairman of the Bank’s Audit Committee and a member of the Monetary Policy Committee for a period of four years.
Sami also chaired the board of directors of the Financial Services Institute, the board of trustees of the Egyptian Center of Directors and the Supreme Committee for Egyptian Accounting and Auditing Standards, in addition to being a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Payments Council.
Sami is the first Egyptian to be elected to the board of directors of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) in 2014, and he was re-elected for a second session in 2016, and he was also elected president of the Federation of Arab Securities Authorities for the term that ended in 2017.
Sami was also appointed for several consecutive sessions as a member of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones from 2007 until 2015, and he was also chosen as the first Managing Director of Banque Misr Investments (Misr Financial Investments), which manages direct contributions in addition to managing investment funds in the Egyptian Stock Exchange, as he was He has been a member of the Board of Directors of Banque du Caire from 2010 to 2013, and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Investment Fund Company.
It is noteworthy that Sami began his working life at (Accenture Consulting), where he worked in its offices in Chicago, Riyadh, and Beirut, after graduating from the Faculty of Commerce at Alexandria University with excellent grade with first class honors.
He participated in several executive programs in the fields of strategy, investment and management in a number of business schools and prestigious management institutes in the United States and Europe.
