This week, ‘La Moderna’ premiered its third season in the afternoon on La 1. It will do so with new characters that will generate intriguing plots, as its actors told us during the presentation to the media. At El Televisero we were able to speak with the actress from Alicante, Lola Marceli, who together with Miguel Hermoso, Diana Palazón, Pepe Nufrio, Clara Alvarado, Magdalena Tejado and Jesús Mosquera are the new signings of the series.
But who is Lola Marceli really? This veteran actress became very well known after playing the historical character of Julieta in ‘Amar en tiempos revueltos’. In addition, she also starred in the daily series on La 1 ‘Mercado central’. Her last big role was in the Netflix series, ‘Elite’ where she played Beatriz, the mother of Carla – Ester Expósito’s character. In addition, in the sentimental field she is the partner of the popular actor Juanjo Puigcorbé, with whom she has been for more than 23 years.
Lola Marceli plays Maruja, Emiliano Pedraza’s wife. Although her marriage was one of convenience, it shows. She is a “very unhappy woman,” as the actress admits during the chat we had with her. Maruja “married Emiliano with hope and love, but in reality it was a marriage arranged by her parents and things are not going any further. She is a woman who is obviously unhappy, she has low self-esteem. Her life has been about taking care of her children, Paula and Iván.”
What is Maruja Pedraza like, the new character in ‘La Moderna’ played by Lola Marceli?
Maruja in ‘The Modern’.
As if this were not enough, «in Argentina she did not have a great social life and the only thing that takes her out of this is the charitable work she has been doing through her foundation.» «She is a woman who has made this unhappiness her comfort zone, but she lives in fear, she lives in fear. She is always putting out fires, with her children, with her husband…», explains Lola Marceli.
Maruja “has a complicated relationship with Pepita, the maid, and with Pepita’s son. Even though she has raised Pepita’s son close to her children. She has a complicated relationship with Pepita, but I find it fascinating, because she has been at home all her life and you have to put up with her,” admits the actress.
When it seemed that her life was dedicated to caring for her husband and her children, “suddenly something happens that makes her see the light a little,” she tells us, although without going into further details. Maruja and Emiliano’s marriage “is one of convenience. In public we have to be a perfect couple, but behind closed doors Emiliano lives his life, and the rest of us have to put up with what he proposes,” Lola Marceli says.
