Chandigarh. The Punjab Police has raided the suspected hideouts of persons linked to Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh alias Landa sitting in Canada. During this, many people have been detained for questioning. This raid was done at the same time last Sunday on the instructions of DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav. During this, all the residential and other places related to about 297 associates of Lakhbir Landa were searched closely in 28 police districts of the state. Lakhbir, originally a resident of Tarn Taran in Punjab, is alleged to have got a rocket-propelled grenade attack on the headquarters of the Punjab Police Intelligence in the past.

Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla said that all CPs and SSPs were instructed to deploy a strong police party under the leadership of Inspector or Sub-Inspector to make this operation successful. He said that police teams were also asked to nab suspicious persons during the operation.

He told that 150 teams of Punjab Police were prepared for the raid, in which about 1200 police personnel were involved. He further said that under this special drive, several persons related to the modules supported by Lakhbir Landa, who were arrested recently, were interrogated. The Special DGP said that several persons have been detained for further investigation and incriminating material has also been seized from them. The investigation is still going on.

Arpit Shukla said that during this operation, the police teams searched closely at the houses and other places belonging to these criminals. During this, data has also been seized from the electronic device, which will be sent for forensic examination. Special DGP Law and Order said that the police teams also checked the arms license and questioned people about the source of arms. Apart from this, travel related details of his family members living abroad, bank transactions from abroad, Western Union and property related details have also been collected for further investigation.
