Bhubaneswar. The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police has arrested a person from Kashmir for cheating people by posing as an officer in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and an army doctor. STF Inspector General (IG) J N Pankaj said here that the 37-year-old man allegedly has links with several people in Pakistan and suspicious elements in Kerala and has also married several women in several states. Following a tip-off, STF on Friday arrested an accused named Syed Ishan Bukhari alias Ishan Bukhari alias Dr. Ishan Bukhari from Neulpur village of Jajpur district.
Pankaj told reporters, “The accused used to present himself as a neuro specialist, an army doctor, an officer in the PMO, a close associate of high-ranking NIA (National Investigation Agency) officers and others. “Many forged documents like medical degree certificates issued by Cornell University of America, Health Services Institute of Canada and others have been seized from him.”
Several affidavits, bonds, ATM cards, blank cheques, Aadhar cards and visiting cards were also seized from the accused person, a resident of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. “It was also revealed that the accused has married at least six-seven women from different parts of India, including Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Odisha,” Pankaj said. The police officer said that claiming to be a doctor with an international degree, he was also in relationships with many women.
Pankaj said that it appears that the accused is also wanted by Kashmir Police in a case of cheating and forgery and a non-bailable warrant is pending against him. He was reportedly in contact with several Pakistani nationals and some suspicious persons in Kerala. In response to a question, Pankaj said that STF has not found any connection with his ISI (Pakistani Intelligence Agency). Pankaj said, “A joint team of police from Punjab, Kashmir and Odisha will interrogate him.”
