CARACAS.- Opposition leader Freddy Superlano was arrested on Tuesday in the midst of Growing tension in the centre of Caracas and a wave of arrests, which have already reached 749 peoplefollowing the violent protests that took place in the Venezuelan capital and other cities in the country against the re-election of President Nicolás Maduro.

The Supreme Court of Justice, controlled by the Maduro government, ordered the election to be repeated and declared that Superlano -main rival of Governor Argenis Chavez- I couldn’t participate for being disqualified due to a sanction from the Comptroller General in relation to his performance as legislator between 2015 and 2020.
