From the slopes of Seine-Saint-Denis to the podium of Tokyo 2021 Paralympic Games. Tuesday August 31, 2021, Charles-Antoine Kouakou picked up the gold medal on the 400 meters T20. Licensed in Sport toi bien 93, he thus becomes the first Paralympic champion from the French Federation of Adapted Sport.
Personal record broken
To prepare for the Games, Charles-Antoine Kouakou was supported by the departmental Génération Jeux system, which supports young hopefuls. As he argued over his first Paralympic Games, Charles-Antoine Kouakou had a superb race (47 seconds 63 hundredths).
Not proud to win a gold medal, the one who is also vice-champion of Europe has thus broken his personal best.
Gardener at Le Bourget
When he is not on the slopes of Seine-Saint-Denis, Charles-Antoine Kouakou is jardinier au sein de l’ESAT des Muguets, au Bourget. Since 2009, the establishment has welcomed 145 workers with mental or psychological disabilities at Le Bourget in Seine-Saint-Denis.
Charles-Antoine Kouakou is the first of nine athletes from Seine-Saint-Denis to win a medal at the Tokyo Paralympic Games. It is the sixth French gold medal.
