On the morning of this Wednesday, April 24, an alleged offering was made to Tláloc in which a group of people sacrificed a chicken in the vicinity of the Senate of the Republic. Senator Adolfo Gómez Hernández, who organized it, defended the event as a ritual of “usages and customs.”
However, on social networks it has caused outrage that a live animal is used for a ritual. While for the indigenous anthropologist Marco Matías Alonso this is a meaningless extraction of culture.
“They took it out of context, it looks absurd, incoherent and ridiculous; “The Senate is a space to legislate, debate the nation’s problems, not to sacrifice animals, they tore a piece of culture,” she assured.
