Executive Director of the Health Emergencies Program WHOdr. Michael Ryan said: “Our focus on priority pathogens and virus families for research and development of countermeasures is essential for a rapid and effective response to epidemics and pandemics.

According to him, without significant investment in research and development before the Covid-19 pandemic, it would not have been possible to develop a safe and effective vaccine in a short time.
