Venerable Isidore of Pelusium was a native of Egypt. His parents were rich and pious. He worked strictly as a monk on a mountain near Pelus in Lower Egypt, during the reign of Emperor Theodosius the Younger (5th century). He ate roots. He attracted many ascetics, whom he led in the feat.
