Direct speech: “Respiratory tract illnesses caused by COVID-19, influenza and other pathogens have been rising in many countries for several weeks and are expected to continue to do so after the recent holidays.”

“Continue to use masks, ventilation and distancing to reduce exposure, and make sure you and your loved ones get vaccinated against COVID-19 and flu.”

Details: Ghebreyesus called on national authorities to provide access to reliable tests, treatments and vaccines. Especially those who are in the “risk zone”.

It also recommends continued surveillance, sequencing and reporting to track the evolution of the COVID-19 virus, and clearly inform the public about the situation.

Let us remind you: In December it was reported that in two months from COVID-19 died more than 300 Ukrainians, including children.
