WHO chief: a child dies every 10 minutes in the Gaza Strip | Abroad

WHO head Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said this at a meeting of the UN Security Council dedicated to the situation in the Middle East, reports TASS.

“More than 10,800 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip, almost 70% of them women and children. On average, one child dies every 10 minutes in the Gaza Strip.” he said.

According to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), more than 400 children are injured of varying degrees of severity every day.

Since the deterioration of the situation in the Middle East, about 1.5 million people have been forced to leave their homes. According to T. A. Ghebreyesus, 27 thousand people have already been injured, many of them very seriously.

Health workers are struggling to meet the routine medical needs of more than 2 million people,” added the WHO Director General.
