During the term of the incumbent President Zelensky, 6 heads of the State Customs Service have already been replaced. At the same time, the head of the Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia, stated that so far there are no people willing to head this body.
Due to corruption scandals, on February 1, the top of the Ukrainian customs was fired. Subsequently, People’s Deputy Arakhamia noted that there was a terrifying staff turnover in this state structure and described the problems existing in this body.

The main problem is “agreements” on the ground
According to the chosen one, there are several factors contributing to the existence of corruption in the State Customs Service. Actually, one of the most important is the “agreements” on the ground.
I understand customs in its current state as a completely feudal structure. That is, when even the figure of the head of the regional customs does not play such a role as the head of the shift. Therefore, the situation can only be changed institutionally,
– stated the head of the Servant of the People faction.
At the same time, he answered a journalist’s question about “what names are on the table for the position of the new head of customs.” Arakhamia noted that there are exactly zero candidates for this post. Despite the fact that usually there are still a certain number of people who want it, but for some reason not in this case.
Note! Recently, such officials were fired to head the State Customs Service:
- Acting Chairman of the Customs Service – Vyacheslav Demchenko;
- First Deputy Chairman – Alexander Shchutsky.
In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers removed Ruslan Cherkassky, deputy head of customs, from his post.
A lot of money disappears at customs
- To this topic, let us recall that the latest personnel changes at customs did not occur suddenly. The same David Arakhamia previously announced “spring plantings” and the dismissal of the entire management team in the State Customs Service.
- It is also known that in 2022 the state agency fulfilled the plan by only 60% and turned out to be, according to some MPs, the weakest link among all agencies.
- Actually, Daniil Hetmantsev criticized the service, noting that the state received less than 227.5 billion hryvnia.
