Who bought the money from the sale of the Eurovision Song Contest?

The Ukrainian band Kalusha Orchestra, which won this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, has sold its trophy for 838,000 euros to help Ukraine.

According to the BBC, the crystal microphone was auctioned on the social network Facebook to buy unmanned aerial vehicles for the Ukrainian military.

Ukrainian television presenter Serhiy Pritula has announced that the money from the sale of the trophy will be used to purchase three unmanned aerial vehicles PD-2 produced in Ukraine, Reuters reports.

Unmanned aerial vehicles are widely used by Ukrainian and Russian forces both as weapons and for intelligence purposes.

The sale of the award coincided with the band’s performance at a charity concert at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. The aim was to raise money for medical care. Speaking at the concert, the group’s member Oleh Psiuk urged people not to get used to the war, writes the BBC.
