WHO: ‘Aunt Cor’ (107), as far as known, oldest corona patient who was cured NOW

The 107-year-old Cornelia Ras from Goeree-Overflakkee is, according to the health organization WHO, the oldest corona patient worldwide who cured the disease COVID-19. A spokesperson for the WHO reported this to NU.nl on Thursday morning after an investigation.

The WHO monitors the number of coronavirus cases worldwide. “We have not received any information from any elderly patient,” said the spokesperson. She emphasizes that the age of a number of healed patients is unknown, “but even then she will most likely remain the oldest.”

Before ‘Aunt Cor’, as Ras is known to her family, healed, a 104-year-old man from Oregon was identified as the oldest ex-corona patient.

The woman was hit by Rijnmond infected during a church service in her nursing home. Forty other attendees also contracted the corona virus at the time. At least ten of them did not survive the consequences of the virus. Breed was declared healthy on Monday.

It is not clear how many corona patients have been cured in the Netherlands. The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) does not keep regular data on cured corona patients in the Netherlands. As a result, there are no official cure figures.

Several elderly Dutch survived the virus

‘Aunt Cor’ is not the only elderly Dutchman who was cured after a corona infection. As far as we know, a 101-year-old woman from Capelle aan den IJssel was the first over-100s to be declared healthy, followed by a 103-year-old man from Steenbergen in Brabant.

It is difficult to say whether ‘Aunt Cor’ is officially the oldest declared healthy patient; elsewhere in the world it is also not mandatory to report a cure. As a result, news about even older healed patients can be missed.
