The gold that was missing was needed, it had become indispensable to restore vigor to a medal table of placings. Two enterprising girls think about giving Italy a vital breath of fresh air, who on the Sea Forest Waterway basin are not afraid to hand over the race of life to the annals of rowing: Valentina Rodini and Federica Cesarini are gold in double lightweights, in 6’47 ”54 they conquer the most precious medal ahead of France (+0 ”14) and Holland (+0” 49).

I knew it would be very hard – said Valentina -, but Federica was very good at managing the race. Now I can say that I am at peace – the companion’s reply -, this medal comes as a liberation.
Five boats in a handkerchief of water from the start of the race, Italy third at 1500 meters, Valentina and Federica even seem to be off the podium when Romania takes a step back, but the final rush of the Italian girls to bring the tip of the blue arm to the finish line, second blue medal of the day of rowing after the bronze of Stefano Oppo and Pietro Willy Ruta in the men’s double lightweights. Valentina, the blonde, 26, from Cremona, took off her pass for Tokyo together with Federica by winning the final B at the last World Cup, graduated in marketing and had already participated in the Rio Games but with another partner. Federica will turn 25 on 2 August, the best gift if it has already been done: from Cittiglio, on her first Olympic experience, she graduated in Political Science with a thesis on the Olympic Games.
