WHO: 1 in 10 people in the world has been infected with Covid-19 page all

KOMPAS.com- World Health Organization ( WHO) project that about one in 10 people in the world may have been infected Covid-19.

This has left a large part of the world’s population vulnerable to infectious diseases corona virus recently.

The statement was conveyed by WHO’s top emergency expert, Mike Ryan, which means that worldwide has reached 20 times the number of confirmed global cases.

As quoted from ABC, Tuesday (6/10/2020), Dr Ryan warned that the world was heading for difficult times.

Currently, Southeast Asia is facing a spike in Covid-19 cases, Europe and the eastern Mediterranean are also experiencing an increase, while the situation in Africa and the West Pacific tends to be more positive.

Regarding the spread of the corona virus, the United States continues to attack China by citing a failure to provide accurate information about the outbreak.

However, it was denied by Zhang Yang from the Chinese National Health Commission.

The WHO and experts have said that the virus is believed to have originated in a market in the Chinese city of Wuhan at the end of last year that came from animals.

In addition, WHO has also sent a number of experts to take part in international missions to China to investigate the origins of the new coronavirus, Ryan said.

“Our best estimates at this point in time tell that at least about 10 percent of the global population may have been infected with this virus (SARS-CoV-2),” said Dr Ryan. South China Morning Post (SCMP).

Dr Ryan estimated that the number of infected populations far exceeds the number of confirmed cases as calculated by WHO and Johns Hopkins University, which currently has more than 35 million people worldwide positive for Covid-19.

This means that it is estimated that there will be more than 760 million people infected with Covid-19 if the current world population is around 7.6 billion people.

Experts have also long warned that the number of confirmed cases is being grossly underestimated.

“This disease (Covid-19) continues to spread. This disease continues to increase in many places in the world,” said Dr Ryan when conveying this to the WHO Executive Board.
