Racism is something that has not been completely eradicated despite the years and far-right groups such as the White Supremacists they continue to exist today. That is why, currently, two men in the United Kingdom -who apparently belong to this type of ideologies- were put on trial, after verbally attacking Archieson of Prince Harry and Meghan Marklein a podcast for “being mestizo”.
According to the medium The Sun, Christopher Gibbons, 38, and Tyrone Patten-Walsh 34 years old, they would have presented a program called Black Wolf Radio between the March 3 and February 9, 2020, where not only would there be expressed their hatred of “mixed race” relationships, but instead used the marriage of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to exemplify.
The trial is taking place at Kingston Crown Court and the two defendants have steadfastly denied encouraging far-right acts of terrorism.
“(They) they are men who hold extreme right-wing views. They are dedicated and unapologetic white supremacists (…) They thought that if they used the format of a radio program, as good as it looks, they could pass off their company as the legitimate exercise of their freedom of expression, ”said the prosecutor Anne Whyte QC and added:
“In effect, what they were doing was using language designed to encourage others to commit acts of far-right terrorism against sections of society that these defendants hated.”
The prosecutor would also have indicated that the statements would have been made in an context of rampant racism:
“Christopher Gibbons addressed his views that the Sussex baby was an abomination that should be put down and that Prince Harry should be prosecuted and found guilty and judicially killed for treason,” said Anne Whyte.
In this regard, Christopher has also denied another charge against him for disseminating terrorist publications, after allegedly uploading videos to a site called The library of radicalization eBetween April 2018 and February 2020.
According to information from The National the court listened to 23 long podcasts, with images that were classified as “pretty crude” and that would have been published in an account with 128 subscribers. In addition, the defendants would also have supported the Manchester suicide bomb attack arena 2017, the murder of Labor MP Jo Cox in 2016 and the Brenton Tarrant shooting in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 2019.
It should be noted that this is not the first time that the Sussex family has been affected by issues of racism, as it was in 2021, when in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle accused the British royal family of discrimination.
“In the months in which I was pregnant there were (…) worries and conversations about how dark your skin might be when you’re born”, Meghan sentenced during the meeting that was broadcast on the chain CBS.
Harry, for his part, supported the veracity of the accusation made by his wife and, although neither of them wanted to say who in the royal family would have been behind such statements, they did lament the racism that exists at the top of the British monarchy.
“The Commonwealth is a huge part of the monarchy and 60-70% of its members are black,” Meghan said.
