White Powder Spills at Manhattan Supreme Court Building and Attorney General’s Office in New York Amid Trump Civil Fraud Case

A suspicious white powder spilled today from an envelope addressed to the judge overseeing former President Donald Trump’s civil fraud case, prompting a massive emergency response at the Manhattan Supreme Court building in New York.

Letitia James, Attorney General of New York, also received a suspicious envelope in his office Albany, state capital, a few hours after the first incident.

In Manhattan, the substance spilled on the pants of a New York state court official after he opened the envelope sent from Florida to Judge Arthur Engoron around 9:30 a.m., police sources told New York Post.

After being analyzed, unidentified dust was considered “safe” shortly before 1 p.m., NYPD said. According to city firefighters (FDNY) two people at the scene exposed to the substance refused medical attention.

Judge Engoron, who imposed a Trump fined $355 million earlier this month, he was not exposed to the envelope, but two people were and they were isolated, wrote Frank G. Runyeon of Law360 and Twitter/X.

Although the sentence was $355 million dollars, to that figure we must add the pre-trial interest that was accumulated in the compensation, reaching then the $464 million. If Trump wants to suspend the ruling, he will have to post bail for the full amount or get a judge to agree to freeze it or accept a reduced amount. If that doesn’t happen within the 30-day period, James’s office could begin seizing his assets.

The office of Judge Lewis Kaplan, who oversaw Trump’s defamation case against writer E. Jean Carroll in the Southern District of New York, has also been on high alert after today’s cases, according to sources.

In another similar case, on Monday night a letter with white powder was sent to Donald Trump Jr., the former president’s eldest son and candidate for the Republican presidential nomination. That envelope was received in Florida. Test results on the substance were inconclusive as to what exactly it was, but officers on the scene ruled out that it was fatal.
