Going back upstream along the 5,000-year history of China, people will find that the civilization that once flourished has been recorded in the form of words by various carriers. Through the exploration of these written records, later generations have uncovered cultural mysteries that have amazed the times.
When the oracle bone inscriptions were born 124 years ago, a powerful but more mythical dynasty was gradually revealed. Pieces of silent oracle bones are telling the history silently. It is the history of characters and the characters that record history. It is the originator of Chinese characters that have been passed down to the present. Theme: “White Hole” seems to be reborn!

“White Hole: The Mystery of Oracle Bone Inscriptions and Its Contemporary Meaning” is the first domestic oracle bone inscriptions contemporary art exhibition co-organized by 798CUBE team, curator Yang Zi, and many well-known domestic and foreign artists. It is a combination of traditional culture and contemporary art cultural feast. The exhibition brings together 38 contemporary artists and musicians, and more than 87 works of contemporary art. The exhibition is divided into three parts: “shape”, “sound” and “meaning”, as well as a special unit “source”.
During the three-month large-scale exhibition, there will be a series of exciting activities, presenting the charm of the collision between Oracle and contemporary art in multiple dimensions, such as the Oracle Youth Art Project, “Mystical Contemporary Art and Electronic Music Frequency Resonance” Spiritual Liquid Party, “Siphon – Data is Spiritual” blessing conference, “Why do people wake me up?” special project, curator’s sharing lecture, artist roundtable forum, closing screening, music performance, etc.
Among them, the special project “Why did the world wake me up?” opened on August 26, 2023 in the lecture hall of 798CUBE and will continue until September 3.This special project unites more than a dozen new-generation artists to develop the oriental surreal imagination of spiritualism. Starting from anthropology, it adopts the method of combining historical narrative and case study, depicts mysterious scenes with contemporary art language, and uses mythological images as The focus is to reflect and criticize subjectivity in the dimension of modernity.
