The incident happened last weekend in Wolfe City, about 62 miles from Dallas. A lawyer for the relatives says that the killed Jonathan Price, 31, was trying to protect a woman and raised his hands when the police arrived.
Texas authorities say police arrested Shaun Lucas tried to arrest Price. He would have tried to run away. The policeman first fired an electric shock weapon at him and then fired his service weapon.

Price later died in hospital from his injuries. Lucas is now in detention and is suspected of murder.
Police violence against black Americans is very sensitive in the US. Activists believe that too often lethal violence is used against that population group for no good reason.
National protests
George Floyd’s death earlier this year sparked outrage and nationwide protests. For minutes, a white cop had pressed his knee to Floyd’s neck, who was lying on the floor in handcuffs.
