White coffin for Sharon Verzeni, funeral begins. The parish priest: “We want the truth”

White coffin for Sharon Verzeni, the 33-year-old stabbed to death in the street on the night between Monday and Tuesday last in Terno d’Isola, in the Bergamo area, where she lived with her partner. Family members, friends and acquaintances gathered for the funeral in the church of San Vittore in Bottanuco, also in the province of Bergamo, where the woman was born and raised.
The coffin, on which a wreath of white and red flowers was placed, was brought inside shortly after 10, while the family reached it avoiding journalists and cameras. Shops were closed and flags were at half-mast on the Town Hall, which has declared a day of mourning for today.
“An angel has flown to heaven,” reads the funeral poster at the entrance to the church. “Your joy and your sweet smile will always be in our hearts. Sure that we will see each other again.”
