While on Medical Check Up, Ex Danjen Kopassus will visit Bareskrim Monday, all pages

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Former Danjen Kopassus Maj. Gen. TNI (Purn) Soenarko was unable to comply with the summons of the investigators at the General Crimes Directorate Criminal Investigation Unit Police, on Friday (16/10/2020).

Soenarko was originally investigated as a suspect in the case that caught him in 2019, namely alleged ownership illegal firearms.

Head of Soenarko’s Attorney’s Team, Ferry Firman Nurwahyu, said his client was currently undergoing a medical examination.

“It simply came to our notice then medical check up in one of the private hospitals in Jakarta, I know because he is 67 years old, “said Ferry through a written statement received Kompas.com, Friday.

However, Ferry met with investigators on Friday. He asked about the subject of the summons to the investigator.

Apart from that, in the meeting, Ferry also admitted to conveying the health condition of his client to investigators.

Because Soenarko was undergoing a medical, Ferry said his client would inform investigators on Monday (19/10/2020).

“We will be back on Monday, 19 October 2020, at 10.00 WIB with our clients to provide information about what is the subject of the summons,” he said.

Reportedly, the Directorate of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri summoned former Special Forces Special Forces Major General TNI (Purn) Soenarko to be examined as a suspect on Friday (16/10/2020).

The Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General (Pol) Ferdy Sambo confirmed the investigation was related to the alleged possession of illegal weapons in 2019.

Ferdy said that the summons were in order to provide legal certainty to the suspect.

According to Ferdy, his party will send the case file to the public prosecutor (JPU) when it is complete.

“The investigator’s obligation to provide legal certainty to the suspect, if the elements of the article are complete and fulfilled, they will immediately be sent to the prosecutor for trial,” said Ferdy when contacted, Thursday (15/10/2020).

The determination of the suspect Soenarko was previously announced by the then Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Wiranto, during a press conference in his office, May 21, 2019.

Wiranto said Soenarko was a suspect in the possession of illegal firearms.

At that time, Soenarko was considered a potential threat to national security because the weapons in his possession were suspected to be used to be smuggled in during the May 22 riots.

Soenarko was also detained. However, the police granted Soenarko’s suspension of detention with the guarantor of the TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto and the then Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
