Tax compliance rates are high as taxpayers, despite continued accuracy, pay more than 8 out of 10 euros of total VAT, income tax and ENFIA debts on time.
The data of AADE show that the collection of the most basic taxes (VAT, income tax of natural and legal persons and ENFIA) reached 81.88% in the first five months of the year.
More consistent in their payments appear Businesses as they pay without delay 9 out of 10 euros of it income tax and its repayment follows VAT with the collection rate reaching 81%.
The lowest performers are natural persons who pay 75.4% of income tax on time as thousands of households find refuge in the fixed arrangement and the 24 installments to catch their breath.
The data of AADE
In more detail, the following conclusions for the period January – May 2024 emerge from the AADE data for tax compliance by tax category:
- VAT: Of the 7.378 billion 5.973 billion euros were collected, i.e. the compliance rate was 80.96%.
- Business income tax: Of the 1.968 billion euros, 1.788.07 billion euros were paid on time, which means that the rate of on-time payment of corporate income tax is 90.83%.
- Personal income tax: Collectability in this category has picked up speed compared to previous years. The tax compliance rate reached 75.4% in the first five months of the year as taxpayers paid on time 806.84 million euros out of a total of 1.07 billion. euros that had been confirmed and should have been paid during the specific period.
- Real estate tax: Collectability reached 77.46% as of the 884.70 million euros that had been confirmed, 685.32 million euros were paid. It is noted that taxpayers started paying the installments of this year’s ENFIA bill from April. The data shows that in April the collectability of ENFIA was 68.37% to rise to 77.15% in May.
